We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God (II Timothy 3:16). This can be proven through fulfilled prophecies, ancient scientific knowledge, life-changing results, manuscript (original documents) evidence, and Spirit-filled faith. Because of this conviction, we base our faith and practice on the Bible and consider it an infallible revelation of truth.
From the Bible, we learn that there is one God and that this God has manifest Himself as the Father in creation, the Son in redemption, and the Holy Spirit in regeneration. Our belief in God is based on the Bible and therefore uses Biblical language. We believe there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all (Ephesians 4:5-6).
The Bible also teaches us the way of salvation. When the Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ were asked, "What must we do?" Peter responded with, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38)
From this response, we learn that one must repent to be saved. To repent is to turn from sin and toward God. You cannot repent without Godly sorrow and hearing the Gospel. The Gospel, that Jesus was crucified, died, and rose on the third day for your salvation, must be received by faith and this will lead to a Godly sorrow that causes repentance (II Corinthians 7:10).
We then learn, from Peter's response, that one must be baptized. This is referring to baptism in water and we still baptize in this way today. Peter was following the teaching of the Lord Jesus (Matthew 28:19) when he told them to "be baptized. in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins." This was Peter's clear explanation of Jesus' teachings. For this reason, we preach and practice this teaching to this day.
The Holy Ghost
The final truth in Peter's response is that we should receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. God promised, in the Old Testament, that He would speak to His people with stammering lips and another tongue (Isaiah 28:11). Then in the New Testament, on the day of Pentecost, about one hundred and twenty of them spoke in languages they did not know. They were speaking about the wonderful works of God (Acts 2:11). There is no Biblical passage which states that this experience should end before the return of the Lord Jesus and we still experience this life-changing power today.
Finally, we believe in the literal return of Jesus Christ for His Church. We believe He will come back in the same way that He went away after His resurrection (Acts 1:11). This means that we will see Him physically. We live our lives in longing hope of His return (Revelation 22:20).
